I can't say enough about how lovely the Casa Barmarin is. Because of its comfort and hospitality, we had a fantastic visit and will definitely return to Trinidad. The owner, Camila, was very communicative and accommodating. She helped us arrange guitar lessons for our son (we highly recommend the instructor, Juan Julio Urias!). The three brothers managing the property were WONDERFUL. We looked forward to lounging around in the afternoons in hopes that Felix might pull up a chair and make conversation with us (he often did). Duviel is a Cuban historian and tour guide. I learned (or tried to) a semester's worth of Cuban culture and history in an afternoon tour with him. He also took us on a gorgeous hike to one of the waterfalls in Gran Parque Natural Topes de Collantes. On our next visit, I hope that he will be available to take us to the Valle de los Ingenios. Aramis, the third brother, is so sweet and helpful. He was especially observant and would follow up with advice and ideas based on the kids and my interests. In addition to these brothers going above and beyond to make out stay comfortable, the accommodations were excellent -- super clean and very comfortable beds -- and the breakfasts were fantastic, especially the deluxe fruit plates. 1,000 thank yous for making our first trip to Trinidad and Cuba so special. We can't wait to return.
