Everything in this property was absolutely excellent. The atmosphere was quiet and calming, and the surrounding area is beautiful with lots of shops and dining options. Everything about this hotel is great and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Kyoto for more than a couple of days.

Friendly staff, clean room, a nice view, etc. The only complaint I have is the building itself; the stairs aren’t the easiest to go up/down as they steps are a bit taller and narrower than I’d have liked.
Still, overall a great stay.

Great location
I definitely recommend Koto to those who know what they are getting for the price. Koto provides different types of rooms, including dorms. We stayed in a twin Japanese-styled futon room with shared bathroom on the third floor.
The third floor only has two twin guest rooms sharing a shower and toilet (there are three twin rooms on the fourth floor sharing a shower/toilet). The third floor also has the laundry and shared kitchen/balcony, and it's one less flight of stairs to climb (no elevator, stairs only). The sink in the toilet room did not have running hot water during our stay.
The staff are all very nice and tries to be as accommodating as possible (with advanced notice). Location is great, steps away from the Fushimi Inari Shrine. Perfect for those who want to visit early in the morning without the other tourists.
