Stayed for one night on route back to London having just completed the NC500. Incredibly relaxing; the perfect tonic following the tour of Scotland.

Our experience was amazing. The room was so cosy, clean and warm. A beautiful bath with gorgeous toiletries supplied. The owner and son were so friendly and helpful. They have a dry room which was great for our hiking gear. The breakfast was the best breakfast I've ever had at any hotel, b&b or guest houses. Will definitely be back again.

Gorgeous boutique b&b with all the extra special touches - honesty bar with local crafted beer; nespresso machine; toiletries and 5 star breakfast experience. The owners did not scrimp on the furnishings and thought of everything, would highly recommend!

The best B&B in the Lakes! We stayed for two nights in Dec 2024 and could not fault this place & will definitely be returning. It is finished to a high standard throughout, very comfortable and the staff are brilliant. It’s a great base for exploring the Lakes, either hiking, cycling, running etc and there is a boot room to dry wet clothes etc. The breakfast is delicious with a great selection including a hot fresh cooked to order option. There is an honesty bar which is well stocked and delicious cake is also available mid afternoon. It is very easy to access great local restaurants/ pubs in Gosforth e.g The Olive Tree. The staff we met were all incredibly friendly, helpful & polite. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Amazing stay at 1692 Wasdale, will definitely be staying there again if ever in the west lakes for hikes. Would recommend to anyone. The rooms are stunning, amazing views from the hot tub (make sure you call to book a slot). We even got to feed the alpacas after speaking to Faith about them. She chopped us up some carrots to take out to them.

Had a Fabulous short stay at 1692 which definitely met all of our high expectations. Stayed in the Cairn suite which was exactly as described, the bath was a much needed extra and a delight after walking up Scafell Pike. Breakfast was devine with everything you could possibly want from continental or cooked. Cleanliness was second to none and this coupled with all of the above and the friendly warm welcome we received I could not recommend 1692 more highly . Its definitely worth a visit 😁 we will be back x x

A wonderful stay at a truly beautiful property. The care and craftsmanship that has been given to the restoration of this farm steading is evident throughout the building. The room we had (Fells) was one of the nicest spaces I've stayed in. Huge room with gorgeous bathroom on a mezzanine above. Hot tub after a long day on the fells was also a lovely addition! Breakfast was superb and staff were attentive without being intrusive - particular mention to Juliet who couldn't do enough. Will be back!

Its all about attention to detail, and this place has got it and then some! Can not rate this accomodation highly enough the staff where so friendly and helpful, and nothing was a problem for them. The little things matter and the place has plenty of quality. The hot tub was a nice extra as was the piano in the lounge area. Very clean and tidy. We will be back, lovely experience and the breakfast was excellent in both quality and quantity. It was a pleasure to stay here.

I was looking for somewhere near Wasdale Head to stay for a couple of nights for a last-minute walking trip. Stumbled across this place on Expedia and what a gem! Clearly as it's only just opened everything is shiny and new, but because the owners have invested in good quality fixtures and fittings I'm sure that they will stay shiny and continue to provide excellent service for many years to come - it's refreshing to see somewhere which has been fitted out to a high standard rather than just made to look nice. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable, the facilities are great - including a drying room and communal space for groups/families to be able to enjoy together. This would be a super place for a family get-together. The hosts are great - eager to make sure everything is covered and happy to help with advice and restaurant bookings - also to provide packed lunches which was great for me - and delicious too! I can't recommend highly enough - I would definitely stay again.

Do you have a really wealthy friend with a sumptuous guest suite? Staying here is like visiting that friend. Every detail is meticulously curated, including robes, towels and flip flops that are delivered if you book the hot tub, homemade shortbread, color coordinated chocolates on your pillow, chef made breakfast, a focus on locally made amenities (bedding, toiletries, beers, jams, and other breakfast items), homemade cake every afternoon, combination lock door handles, multiple lighting options from ambient to task, soaking tub, rainfall shower and handheld wand. The inn itself is the quintessentially perfect combination of good planning, old bones and contemporary style. It is a refurbished barn from 1692 that has retained its stone walls, but been fitted with underfloor heating and kitted with high end plush furnishings and decorated with an eye for distinction. Set on a farm, it's a 5 min drive into Gosforth, 15 minutes to the Wast Water (or less if you don't hit traffic on the single track road),30 minutes to the ocean for beaches and seaside towns, and in the midst of all the wild beauty, ancient history and outdoor adventure available in the western Lake District. You won't find over crowded tourist towns here. You'll need a car, to get round, but you'll be staying in the lap of luxury whilst immersed in the wilder side of the District. Every suite is distinct, lovely and comfortable, but we are fond of Cairns. Video coming on Well Travelled Life YouTube channel.
