Bad smell
We visited a bit out of season (mid October). For check in, I didn’t get answer on messages through hotels.com, but the owner answered quickly by WhatsApp.
At arrival around seven, we met the owner (?) and another guest that had stored luggage in our room and was just about to collect it.
The room was decently clean. A bit strange smell in the bathroom, but we thought it was the air refresher.
In the middle of the night, it was terrible. Strong cloak smell in the bathroom, making me wanting to vomit. Tried to put on the light (and by that the ventilation) for the rest of the night, but still not a place to be the next morning.
The owner wrote that they “we certainly had some sewerage problems during the night.” We were first offered another room. Even with a non-smoking sign outside, the room clearly smelled of cigarettes. The bathroom as well had a bad smell.
We had booked for two nights. We asked for a refund for the next night and got booked another place. The owner accepted this. We got less than half of our total booking back. I was just happy to get out, but looking back it was strange. Strange even to be charged at all for the night with the cloak in our bathroom…
When leaving, the owner accepted that we left luggage until we could check in the next place. That was positiv.
