Although the apartment was lovely inside, the location was absolutely awful. We decided to walk from the train station (0.9 miles, 20 minute walk), and we have never been so scared in our lives. The streets are filled with people just ‘hanging’ about, the buildings look like they’re falling apart, and there is litter and grafetti everywhere. On arrival to the apartment, we were told that if wanted to go for food, to turn left from the hotel and not the right as it’s quite ‘dangerous’ - that’s the exact direction we had walked from, and at no point before arrival where we informed not to walk to the hotel and instead get a taxi.
However, the receptionist was lovely and very helpful - she gave us great recommendations of where to get food (the best we’ve had in Italy and very cheap), and was able help with all of our queries.
We can’t fault the hotel - it was just what we needed. However we just wish we knew what type of location it was in before we booked. We will never ever be returning to Naples after that experience.
