Where to Go in June

The rich greens of Lake District in June provides a fine example of the UK’s lush and beautiful countryside, showcasing its rolling hills and glistening lakes in the best possible light. You should be blessed with warm weather, hopefully not too much rain, and plenty of daylight hours for climbing, with the summer solstice falling on 21st June.

Not only should the weather be on your side, but you should benefit from peaceful surroundings too, as schools haven’t broken up for summer yet. Climb England’s highest peak – Scafell Pike – visit the fascinating Sizergh Castle or hire a boat out on Lake Windermere for the ultimate Lakeland experience.
 

A visit to Cusco is all about discovering ancient ruins, peru-sing (see what we did) bustling markets and, of course, setting off on an inimitable journey along the awe-inspiring Inca Trail. It may be quite busy around June because the weather is at its best, with the dry season and manageable temperatures making ideal conditions for hiking.

Most people pass through Cusco purely as a means to get to Machu Picchu, but the city itself is certainly worthy of exploration. Delve into its captivating culture, visit the impressive cathedral and treat your senses to a wander around San Pedro Market. Time your visit to coincide with Cusco’s sun festival, Inti Raymi, on 24th June.

Bali brings people in search of the biggest waves to surf, the best temples to explore and the most beautiful spots to experience the island’s alluring, laid-back vibes. There’s never really a bad time to visit Bali, but the weather can play a part. Although hot and sunny all year round, the island’s rainy season falls between October and April, dampening your day with the odd heavy shower. June is warm and dry, with very little chance of rain.

Travel the island and feel pure zen among the rice terraces of Ubud, get a taste of luxury in Nusa Dua or soak up the lively atmosphere of Kuta. The colourful Bali Arts Festival also takes place in June in Denpasar.

Nashville is a hive of excitement throughout June as people from all over the world gather for the best country music festival on the planet. A visit to Nashville is a pilgrimage for country fans at any time of year, but especially in June when the annual CMA Music Festival comes to town for 4 days of a whoopin' and a hollerin'. Add to that the fact that summer is getting into full swing and you’re in for an unforgettable trip.

When you’re not 2-stepping at a honky-tonk, there’s no better time of year to admire the city’s great outdoors, seeing the sights of downtown, hiking around Radnor Lake or taking a kayak out on the Harpeth River.
 

June is a great time to visit Stockholm and experience this spectacular city of islands at its finest, in the light of the summer sun. It may be a little pricier and busier around this time of year, but with so many great areas of the city to discover, it’s best done when the weather is warm, sunny and dry.

Explore the narrow streets of Gamla Stan – the city’s old town island – watch the Changing of the Guard at the Royal Palace and take a boat over to Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum. Here, on this island, is one of the best spots to join in the city’s Midsummer festivities, a celebration around the longest day each year that's almost as big as Christmas.
