Really good overall experience. Was allowed to check in early whicy was nice. Very good breakfast and excellent location. Only minus is that the rooms are not sound proof so there were quite a lot of noise from other guests or from construction work outside.

We booked a family getaway and found the hotel was in a street that was closed off. The building next to our hotel was being refurbished and we were advised that they would be working through the night! We were then offered earplugs!

The hotel and staff were great as was the breakfast. It was very convenient to the train station and a number of sites and restaurants. The only issue was noise from renovations that should be done soon.

The location is perfect. A few minutes away from the train station and basically located in the city centre (the main church is literally down the street). The room was nice and clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable ones I’ve ever tried. However, the rooms are poorly isolated so you can hear EVERYTHING that happens in the other rooms. Noise from outside is also quite bad (and I was located at the back so not near any streets). The breakfast is really good but the room where it’s served is extremely small. There are a lot of people at any time and it was difficult to find a table (and even when u find it you fell pressured to leave as it’s very crowded and even difficult to go around the room). On my second day I tried 2 times to come down and have breakfast before being able to have a table, even if they ask you to choose a specific time slot to have it. Staff is nice and informative.

Life at the Thon Astoria
What I liked most about my stay at the Thon Astoria was the location. Near the Central station, Karl Johans gate, and museums helped make my stay in Oslo so enjoyable. They have a wonderful breakfast too.

Rather sleep under a bridge next time.
Arrived at around 22:45. There was nobody at the reception, so had to wait about 5 minutes. I asked for a room situated so that I wouldn't need to carry my bags far, got one on the 2nd floor, but FAR AWAY from the lift. The room was on par with the worst boarding school room I had the pleasure to live in. Everything looked dated and almost dirty. Shameful for a Thon Hotel, which I chose because as (until now) my experience was always positive. The only saving grace was the bed, which was about 120cm wide and comfortable. The real let down was the bathroom. It was so small, that a slightly taller person could shower their feet while sitting on the toilet. Maybe it is desirable by busy business people, but it's ridiculous in my view. The actual COLD shower made me feel downright miserable. I mean ice cold water, after disbelieving it is possible and playing with the settings and letting the water run for good 5-6 minutes. I braved the cold, because I travelled 17 hours and felt in need of it. After an other 2-3 minutes the water became slightly lukewarm. That was all I got. If my room was not so remote and I was not as tired I would have asked for an other room. The worst was that the next day breakfast was so late, I could not have it before I had to travel on. I was not offered the alternative of a take away pack. Next time I opt for an other hotel for sure. I would like to add that I have higher education in the field of tourism and this was a disgraceful service.

Vi fikk rom ut mot gaten. Vi var 2 voksne og 2 barn og det var mye arbeid i gaten. Det var ikke kjekt da de jobbet på natt. Ellers ett flott hotell. Fin frokost men siden frokostsalen var halvert grunnet arbeid etter vannlekasje for flere måneder siden ble opplevelsen ikke helt topp

Greit hotell, men burde vært opplyst om at byggearbeid med høy støy i bakgård startet kl 07 lørdag morgen. Umulig å sove .
