On arrival was pretty excited as looks great from the outside and communal areas, check in was fine and service in restaurant was really good.
Our room however was a different matter room 515, was a double bed and a sofa bed.
The toilet was very dated and could really do with a coat of paint m, retiling cracked tiles and cleaning them, the bathroom tub unit was falling to bit very unexpected.
Comfort is why we scored this really low, the double bed mattress was like laying on rock, no mattress topper just a real hard bed and solid pillows to match, must have been a buy bed get pillows free option.
My daughter was the unfortunate one, the sofa bed was really old ,mattress was like a sheet and on top of a really hard metal frame, after settling down 30 mins into the event of sleeping on this torture device she took the mattress off and laid on the floor with it, a bit more comfortable apparently on the floor so not wahtnwe paid for 2 nights at a cost of well over 279.00 seems a little excessive for a concrete double bed and a mattress on the cold floor.
Also brings me to the air conditioning, we put it on as was very cold in the room due to draught coming from closed windows, and it blew nothing but cold air.
Will enjoyed our time in Manchester but couldn't wait to get home to get some sleep and to straighten out our backs and necks.
Would not stay at a Mercure again as not the first time been disappointed in there hotels.
Would put this at a 2 star at best
