As we were doing a road trip, the important factors when booking a room were air conditioning and parking. The air con was good, the parking not so... After parking in a reserved space in front of the hotel, I was woken by a call from reception at 11.25pm asking me to move the car as there was a market on the following morning resulting in the road being closed off. I eventually manged to locate a space to park the car around half a mile from the hotel and then had to walk back to the hotel to go to bed... again!!
The following day, after visiting the Ephesus Ruins, on returning to the town, the market was still in full swing, meaning that I had to park the car a mile out from the hotel.
The market is a weekly event but the hotel clearly makes no accommodation for the fact that parking will not be available on a Friday evening and not until late on a Saturday. Equally, we were in the room from 9.30pm on the Friday evening, so there is no reason why the call to move the car should not have been made until 11.25pm that night.
If you are planning to visit Ephesus, please choose to stay outside of Selçuk, you'll benefit from the choice!
