I wanted to love this hotel. The photos are amazing. The bathroom was big. The closet in the bathroom, if you’re wondering. However, the breakfast was severely lacking. Pretty much false advertising if you’re judging by the photo of the breakfast spread here.
We stayed over spring break as we were touring universities (CalPoly SLO is walking distance). We had stayed in a La Quinta in San Diego before arriving at SLO.
The room at this hotel was more than what we paid in San Diego. At La Quinta, we had scrambled eggs, grilled meat, toast, etc. at this hotel, all they had to offer was bread in a bin that didn’t have tongs. Coffee in another room. No yogurt or cereal. No eggs. We couldn’t believe it. This “upscale” Best Western only had bread and packaged oats.
I’m not sure if food selection is less in the summer months but if you’re expecting breakfast like in the photo here, call ahead before you make your reservation.
