Disappointed
The compound is lovely spread across the hillside. We had dinner and breakfast on location and the service was poor at best. This property is clearly a cruise ship stopover. We were a private booking. Waiting on a bus for transportation is a hassle, we learned to rent a vehicle in AK next trip. The views help make things better but service needs to improve in the large restaurant.

Setup for your buses not individuals
Room was a typical hotel room clean. The issue was the setup of the whole place it was scattered everywhere and parking was atrocious. Minimal parking half in the mud if you could find a spot. Then you had to walk a long ways to get to your building and room. Seemed to be setup for tour buses not individuals. Not recommended

Very nice resort with many things to do - hiking trails, a couple onsite restaurant choices - nightly fire pit with s’mores and cocktails. This resort is huge! And we wish we had booked more than one night here. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat! The bed is sooo comfy, best night sleep of our trip

There are 2 Princess Wilderness Lodges!
I accidentally booked our rooms at Mt McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, but it turned out to be a good choice to shorten our drive on departure date! I booked tours for Denali NP with pickup at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, oops! That slip up on my part worked out in the end.

Service was terrible, staff was rude. The property lost power for about 5 hours which was not their fault since it was a widespread outage, but the staff handled it poorly. If you cannot be polite, courteous and helpful, then you should probably not be in a customer-facing role.

The area around the property is beautiful. The main dining/reception area is gorgeous. This property is in between Talkeetna (~approx 1 hr by car or shuttle ) and Denali national park (~approx 2 hrs by car or bus) so if you stay here your options are limited. The lodge rooms itself were dated and the rooms were not very clean. The food was surer expensive, tasteless and the service was below par at best. This property serves the cruise ship passengers who opt for land excursions so it is meant for a certain type of people who have no choice. If you are driving and have a choice there are far better options in Talkeetna or just outside Denali national park.

Our stay was just ok. The property is very isolated, and you only have a very small chance of seeing Mt. McKinley from here. The pros: restaurants on site, fire pits and s’mores. The cons: very loud in our room. We heard more noises here than any other hotel we’ve ever stayed at. It is very outdated.

My room was double booked and so, while I was taking a bath and alone in the room, another couple came into the room. When the issue was resolved, the front desk accidentally de-activated my key.

2/10 Poor

We had 2 nights of reservations there, one night on our way to Denali National Park and one night on the way back. It was a good stay on the way there, however the lodge cancelled our reservation on the way back. Their Denali lodge had lost power due to fires in the region so they transferred the Princess Cruises clients back to this lodge and they got priority over regular people like us that had a reservation that they had paid for in advance. I have never had accommodations cancel my reservation, and this happened the day of, on July 3rd, one of the busiest days in Alaska. We had to drive an extra 100 miles to find a hotel, with 2 young kids it felt terrible. I am not one to write bad reviews but I find it unacceptable to cancel someone's reservations because you prioritizes others. Be ware if you are not on a Proncess Cruise.
