I was very pleased to find that the kitchen had adequate cookware, utensils, etc., and that it was all clean and in good condition. I stayed in more than a half dozen hotels with kitchenettes during my late-summer travels, and this kitchen was in the best shape of them all. Sure, the accommodations here are rather spare, and the location is no natural beauty, but that is to be expected for the price.
The front desk staff (I presume to be owner or owner's family) was all business -- no warmth, no pleasantries. I was asked for a deposit ($20 cash, if I remember correctly) when checking in. On checkout, the desk person actually went to the room and inspected it before returning my deposit. To me, this is satisfactory behavior if the result is a well-maintained room and contents.
