Disappointing
Upon arrival at the hotel, my experience was challenging. Contacting the hotel for the shuttle required a phone call, which was difficult for me without a working phone in Canada. Complicating matters, there are two hotels with the same name, Hampton inn by Hilton Calgary Airport and Hampton inn and suites by Hilton a Calgary airport, leading to confusion with the shuttle drop-off. I ended up at the wrong hotel where I took a taxi to the correct one. The hotel's distance from the airport was about a 20/25 minute shuttle ride.
My check-in experience was sadly very poor.
I had checked in beforehand with Hilton Honors, but in the end, it was not helpful. I tried to pay with my Mastercard Premiere, which I had just used at the airport and for the taxi, but it didn't go through in the lobby. I tried two other cards, and none worked.
When I was finally able to contact Mastercard, they assured me that my card was working fine and that the issue was with the hotel. The hotel blamed my cards. Although I had Canadian dollars, the hotel wouldn't accept cash for payment, adding to the frustrating experience.
My daughter and I were very tired and sad about this situation and we lost two hours of rest.
The room itself was comfortable with a cozy bed for a good night's sleep. Breakfast, starting at 6 am, was good before catching the shuttle back to the airport. My card worked again at the airport (!)
I won’t return due to the hotel's payment system issue and distance from the airport.
