The hotel is probably aiming mostly for the beachfront resort vibe. My room was huge, airy, with a great balcony, and a comfortable bed. The pool and hot tubs were nice, when they were open, but didn't care much for the restaurant quality for dinner (the Chinese place, every other similar meal in Hainan that I had was far better). Breakfast was a huge multi-cultural spread, but ran out of plates and working espresso machines on the weekend. After 10pm the pool has signs that say "closed, swim at your own risk" but they mean the first part (closed) and not that you can swim (yelled at).
So, I liked it, there are some criticisms above, but it's a nice place and the weekday pricing was quite good.
