I’ll start by saying that my husband and I stayed in 6 different locations around Portugal, and Kalif, the host at Casa Camélia was one of the kindest and helpful people we met along the way. He was supportive in allowing us to park our car in the garage (though, we hadn’t previously contacted the property to reserve a spot), he oriented us to the area and pointed us in the direction to get the most out of our afternoon upon checkin, he made us a dinner reservation at a place he recommended (which had a great sunset on the other side of the river), he quickly calmed my worries on WhatsApp when we saw smoke in the distance from a fire, and he was always tending to the beautiful property and making sure guests had what they needed. I appreciated him very much.
The room had a comfy bed and little balcony with a great view, the property was a garden lover’s dream, breakfast was perfect each morning, and we were prepared to walk a lot, so the location was good for us (be prepared for steep hills/stairs). We’d gladly return!
We partly chose this property because it had parking, so I’ll share this for other drivers: reserve a spot in the garage ahead of time, let them know when you’ll be arriving and call when you pull up, because they have to let you into the garage down a steep road (which locals are used to driving down faster than you!) and upon leaving, you have to drive through the narrowest road we drove through during our whole 1500 mile roadtrip. No damage but eeeks!
