Staff were wonderful BUT for a hotel in this price category it ‘missed the mark’ in some areas.
Dining arrangements are weird, in that you eat off small tables in the lounge area or library (there were a few stools at high narrow tables, but that wasn’t a particularly comfy option either). If you like eating your breakfast from the equivalent of a coffee table, then this is the place for you.
The breakfast itself was limited, and TINY portions. Both husband and nephew were disappointed when their egg & bacon breakfast arrived in the equivalent of a coffee house latte bowl and a teaspoon to eat it with…. Not really what was needed after a night in Munichs’ famous beer halls!
The porridge I ordered was a warm thin gruel on the first day, and a cold lump of congealed wallpaper paste the next. The freshly-squeezed orange juice was delicious but the large glasses requested never appeared….. neither did the butter for our toast…. Ultimately the breakfast experience overall felt sub-par for a luxury boutique hotel.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but again lacked the attention to small details. Towels were more Travel Lodge than ‘cosy fluffiness’ and the absence of a magnifying mirror in the bathroom (essential for ladies over a certain age) was irritating.
The overall experience was nice, mostly because of the amazing location and wonderful staff, but the missed opportunities to deliver on the details that make the difference between ‘good’ & ‘great’ was a shame.
