the good:
- Friendly and available staff (Derling, Ismael, Silvia). The admin manager (Elmer Ruiz) was very understanding and appreciative of my feedback.
- Very nice decoration, especially main cottage with the restaurant and waiting area.
- Bungalows are individual 2-story cottages some with a fan and some with AC. My bungalow had a fan, enough for ventilation because there is no TV and not enough artificial light to read, I spent most time outside. My room had a mosquito net, which did not close properly, which is more or less fine. Bring insect repellent.
- Several activities like bicycle riding and horse riding which a plus (Francisco the caretaker was excellent).
the bad:
- The pool water was green and turbid, not so inviting but other guests didn't seem to mind
- The hotel needs more direct paths to the beach, guests need to step over broken sticks and branches, dry leaves, to reach the sand or walk all the way through the main cottage.
- My bungalow: Shower water pressure was quite low so showering took a while (not so eco friendly)
- My bungalow: need of maintenance, some loose and rusty screws at knee height for injury and risk of tetanus.
- My bungalow: No WiFi, there are many APs but not all APs were working.
the ugly:
- My bungalow: had 2 bats inside, and bats carry rabies, therefore this is a public health hazard. Front desk and hotel management didn't realize the public health issue.
For all these points, I cannot give the hotel more than 3 stars.
