I needed somewhere that was about ten minutes walk from the tube and wasn't ridiculously priced for London. The Woodford Hotel thankfully fit the bill and was easy to locate. It's a beautiful building with simplistic interiors. Check in was pretty straightforward. The card machine was playing up, though they still let me check in anyway, and we sorted payment in the evening when it was running properly again - no fuss. My room was a deluxe single with ensuite features. The room is minimalist in terms of furniture - a wardrobe, bed, chair, bin and TV. To be fair, for the size of the room, much else would have been too much. I did however think that a standing bedside lamp could have been handy so you don't have to trudge through the room in the dark to get in bed. The ensuite is very small (the sink is even in the bedroom), so if you're a tall person, you might find your knees are against the door - luckily I'm quite small so it wasn't too bad. I didn't really mind the size of the ensuite all that much, just as long as everything worked, which it did, so it was fine. There isn't a kettle in the room, but they had tea/coffee making facilities in a common area downstairs. They even had a microwave and utensils, so you could meal prep and sit at one of the tables to have food if you needed to. The hotel isn't too far from South Woodford high street for food and shopping options, so it's well located for all those needs. Would definitely recommend to people for short stays.
