While the exterior might look run of the mill, the rooms are great! Clean, with comfortable bed/pillows and modern-day styling and amenities.
We stayed at the end of the season and it was perfect! Highly recommended if you are hiking around Lassen .

The area is remote which we knew going in. The property is nicely updated. The room was cold but space heaters help. My kids enjoyed exploring the back of the property.

Cute modernized rooms
It was a little difficult to find our room but once we did we were pleasantly surprised! The room is very modern and clean with a lot of amenities. The shower is amazing. The property is beautiful and it’s fun to explore. Not much around for food or supplies, but the next town over isn’t far.

I really liked that the room was very spacious. It’s close to Lassen National park. Given that most guests at the hotel are likely coming to enjoy the nature and the national park, it would be nice to have a patio by the hotel to rest after a hike in the park. There was no lobby, and the outside area didn’t have anything except a bench facing the road. There was someone’s cloth in our closet. And the door didn’t lock from inside. Our toddler could turn the knob and get out of the room easily so we had to block the door with furniture. The check in was smooth, we just used the provided code for the door. There were guests in other rooms, but it’s a small hotel, probably just 4 rooms. The rest of the building looked empty to me.

The place looks a little scary from the outside but the room is very nice, one problem was that the lamp next to the bed was missing the knob to turn it on and the AC was difficult to get it to work. But all and all the room was OK.

On the plus side:
Spacious room.
Easy electronic code entry.
Newly remodeled, nice decor.
Lots of electric outlets.
Not so good:
Thin walls, no carpeting in hall.
Neighbors noisy until midnight.
Not enough surfaces to set things on, especially in bathroom.
King bed not centered, night stand only on one side.
Occasional clicking noise in bathroom, when running hot water in sink and other times.
A/C broke in middle of the night, no answer on phone so opened window and had highway noise, also did not feel safe.
Small trash bins.
No service unless requested.
No lip on shower stall so water ran all over bathroom. There was a large pool of water in the corner which will eventually cause mold.
