Not sure who scammed us, if hotels.com or Iberostar…but here is our honest review:
Pros: We got married last April 2024 in Riviera Maya and I had 60+ guests staying with us in Iberostar Paraiso and Paraiso Lindo.
I had guests from England, Mexico, Spain, Denmark, Peru, Colombia, France, Brazil… so it was important for me to cover different taste profiles and preferences but still have a Mexican experience… and the Iberostar Paraiso hotelswere perfect por this. Everyone was happy and enjoyed the hotel facilities, food and drinks. We had a wonderful time. The location is great, the beach was beautiful, the staff was very nice.
Cons: We got scammed. Approximately 30 days before checking in I got charged 2000usd to my credit card, but I had already paid for my stay months earlier and it was even a completely different amount.
The charge was on Iberostar’s name and my original payment was on hotels.com. I called Iberostar and Hotels.com to clarify and Iberostar said that the charge was based on a hotels.com reservation that I didn’t recognise, and hotels.com never responded to my claim. As this was a reservation for my wedding I couldn’t just change to another hotel, so I still went even with the unresolved complaint. Which to date is still not resolved neither by Iberostar nor Hotels.com.
I reported it to the bank and the Fraud Investigation team recognised the charge as a scam. I was shocked. I hated to end my wedding holidays with this negative note.
