Hotel is clean & comfortable. Good location for restaurants & bars which are downhill to the Main Street. Ample on street parking. Good choice of breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were phenomenal! I did not feel safe walking around the area, but we used UBER and had no issues. I would stay again. They allowed us to stay in our room until we left for the airport in the late afternoon. That was a real perk!

Amazing hotel - the best!
Absolutely fabulous hotel - incredible service, superb room, great indoor & outdoor spaces and amazing breakfast. Complimentary tea, coffee and cake in the afternoon as well as well stocked honesty bar. I am struggling to think of a better place that we have stayed at around the world - it is the staff in particular that go the extra mile with everything that really differentiates this hotel from others. Home from home! It was everything you’d wish for and more. The team couldn’t do more for us and made us feel like part of the family. Good guesthouse and value for money, but a few things that could easily be improved. Locks to rooms didn’t work properly, service was sweet but a bit overwhelming and breakfast was a little average. Luca the manager however was absolutely fantastic and super helpful, would recommend.

Amazing staff
Location at the bottom of table mountain about 15 minute walk from the centre. The staff are the number one selling point and will help with whatever you need. The communal area is beautiful with a warm fire and comfy sofas. Breakfast was delicious. Room was a bit small but that was the only complaint.

Perfect Oassis in Cape Town
The Derwent House was excellent on all accounts with the exception it is on a hill and my husband isn't the best at parking however the manager came and parked the car for us and we didn't need to use it again until we left. The guest house is convenient for Table Mountain and walking Lions Head it is a small oassis to come back to at the end of the day. Delicious afternoon teas and quiet at night. Easy access to the Waterfront and good restaurants within walking distance

This is a beautiful boutique hotel, in a neighborhood full of restaurants, nightlife and shopping. Most outstanding was the friendly and helpful service, which competes with concierges in the larger hotels, from restaurant recommendations and reservations, to car-hires and other basics. The only minor downside was the lack of a generator to compensate for South Africa's rolling power blackouts, so the air conditioning goes out for a couple hours each night, but it was a minor inconvenience. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Extremely nice staff that went way above and beyond. Included breakfast was excellent and better than what you could find in any restaurant if you went and sat down and ordered avocado toast in my case with salmon. They have lots of staff to make sure the place is secure and everything is taken care of in a timely manner. As for the frequent power outages there were no inconveniences since they have batteries that filled in the outages like they didn’t happen. Very good stay, would choose over a chain since it’s much more personalized and friendly.

A treasure Boutique Hotel in Cape Town
Beautiful Boutique Hotel in a great area of Cape Town- Our correspondence prior to coming helped to make everything smooth and comfortable ( eg. pick ups/drop off from the Guest home, the area , things to do - restaurants to visit etc . ) Breakfast was amazing with fantastic coffee to start , juice choices, cereals, cheeses , breads and jams etc....followed by a hot plated excellent classic bacon and eggs cooked to taste breakfast ...yum yum... served in a vibrant dining area... Our room was lovely overlooking the pool with 2 balconies- All was so tasteful and wonderful... We were close to a few of our favourite restaurants- so great to take them in. All in all superb !!!!!! Good quiet neighborhood, but avoid the appartment
We stayed here for a few days of in- and out-of-town sight seeing, using this hotel as our home-base for 5 days in Cape Town. This property has two options, the hotel rooms (it’s a boutique hotel) and 2 apartments (they call it self catering in S.A.) in an adjacent building next door. Overall, we enjoyed the location with walking distance to tons of bars and restaurants, a 5min drive to table mountain ascend and a free parking spot. The hotel staff was amazingly friendly, very helpful and the hotel reception area, lobby and public areas were wonderful and relaxing. However… our apartment was disappointing. While nicely stocked with welcome cereal, milk, some fruits etc, we were quickly disillusioned. The floors, especially the bathroom/toilet, were so dirty (shoes making “sticking”-noises on tiles as you walk) that we grabbed mop and water bucket and quickly cleaned them so we could use them. The iron gates in front of the window and(!) the apartment door [not the apartment building main door mind you, no, each single apartment unit had its own metal gate] – gave you an impression of being locked into a jail of sorts. We were assured that things were entirely safe, and they were - at least we never felt uncomfortable, but to noisily lock and unlock the metal “jail door” each morning and night didn’t help to get into a romantic vacation mood. Overall, would we stay here again? Certainly! But we would chose the hotel rooms in the main building, not the self-catering apartment
