Well located, charming but good for 1 nigth only
While this is a well located hotel next to the Komtar bus station that allows for easy transport everywhere in the island and is next to a big shopping mall, the street where it is pretty run-down. The hotel itself is somehow disappointing after all the raving we read about it. Yes, the staff is very friendly, yes, it is a heritage building but they could have done a better job in transforming it into a hotel. The terrace and swimming pool are quite charming. The room, however, (ours was called Songket), was spacious yet impractical and gloomy (window to an inner court). The bathroom is somehow built in which might have been an little inner court and the toilet and shower are in the same space. When you take a shower, the toilet gets wet. I you need to go to the toilet after a shower, the floor is all wet. Not nice though it was all pretty clean. There were 4 TV channels when we arrived and after two nights it became only 3. Not that we need to watch TV but, just for that moment you want to watch the news..... nothing is available. The other rooms we could briefly have a peek at were also pretty gloomy. The wifi in the room was snail-slow. It only worked well in the common areas.
Maybe it is a good option for 1 night just to have a taste of what a typical house was like, but definitely not for 4 as we stayed.....
