I very much enjoyed my stay at the Gli Aranchi.
Its true that i didnt exactly get the room i had reserved (double) and was offered the family room in the garden annex with a double bed and 2 bunk beds instead, but in fact this turned out to be fine as it relieved me from carrying my heavy luggage up the stairs in the main house, where my initial room would have been.
Its also true that the boss was not around and sent his mom, a very nice and attentive lady who supervised the preparation of breakfast, and was nice to talk to.
My advice to future guests: Please do confirm your reservations a few days ahead of your arrival. The boss does not seem to be on top of his guest list. I had to confirm the arrival of a friend a few days later, and that definitely was the right thing; another friend whose reservation i had not been aware of, was turned away since her room was not available. (She ended up sharing the family room with the one whose reservation had been secured. ☺)
Also, it would be good to announce your arrival time. I arrived late in the evening (even though before 11pm), and all was dark and no one around; fortunately, the cab driver spotted the phone number the caretaker had pinned to the gate, and i was able to reach her after several attempts which finally led to a happy ending.
