The good: the hotel has good facilities and a variety of entertainment options. The vast majority of the staff is very friendly.
The average: the rooms are standard, but could be better equipped. For example, the bathrooms could have better quality toiletries and include essentials such as shampoo. At the moment they only include a multipurpose soap.
The food is not bad, but could be better.
The bad thing: the service at the front desk was lousy and unfortunately damaged the whole hotel experience. The people in charge not only lack good customer service, but we suspect they are involved in illegal activities.
Our experience started when they forced us to pay VAT when we explained a thousand times that we are not residents of Colombia and we checked in with an international passport and we had the supporting documents proving that we do not reside in the country. They did not give us the exception because we did not have a stamp in our passport. Which does not prove our non-residence. They didn't bother to verify our documents, but made us pay the tax.
The worst: my husband sarcastically told the man with glasses at the reception desk (they don't use name tags), that he was going to pay with his "Colombian resident card", which annoyed him. Within 20 minutes my husband's card received 5 fraudulent charges that although we have NO proof, we believe that the man at the front desk is allegedly behind this scam.
