We had room 8 which is the upstairs attic room, it was a good space with a bathroom in the room. It was clean and check in was very easy. We would definitely stay here again.

Did Washington stay here?
I'm not sure if Washington stayed here but he definitely was nearby. 18th century building certainly has the post colonial vibe. Tall ceilings, old staircase, lots of woodwork. The inn seems to be in varying degrees of remodel. I was intrigued by the "spa" part of "inn and spa" so I booked a room then was informed that the spa in the basement had flooded so no spa treatments. I love old historic hotels and inns but this one could use a bit more updating. I had room #1, the first room on the left of the front door. I liked the textured wall paper and big bed though one side definitely was a bit sunken. There was an attempt at an updated bathroom but it's now worn and dated. Bathroom cleanliness was not great. But the price was right and check in was clear and easy. There was a good coffee shop a few doors down. With the right remodeling, this place could be a real gem.

Beautiful room
This place is very close to town, which is quaint. Great coffee place 3 doors down. It was clean, very comfortable andno problem with on street free parking. Coffe pods and tea bags were available. Could not find cream. Would have liked a small refrigerator or ice available.

It was very cute for a nice little get away. The only down side was there was not a refrigerator in the room to keep drinks cold. Also breakfast would have been nice. Absolutely gorgeous and will definitely stay again!

It was raining and the ceiling was leaking badly. It was the same in the other empty room.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Cumberland Inn and Spa. Safe, clean, comfortable, and restful. Really interesting building. We took advantage of and really appreciated the garage parking for our dusty bikes. One thing that could make it easier for people with loaded bikes is a ramp instead of the three stairs down into the garage.

A wonderful little inn in downtown Cumberland, full of character and charm. We were very happy with our decision to stay here, rather than a chain further outside the city.

Location good for downtown
Not the best experience. No one was on site for help with heat/ac or anything needed. We could text the person who texted us the code to get in. The persons number on the guest sheet in the room was the same person who texted although the numbers are different. Noise from the street outside was loud as we were on the front of the house. May have been better if on backside.

What. A. Gem. Such a unique facility! This felt more like a cozy studio apartment (without a kitchen) in a quaint, old building than it did a "hotel." The expansive facility has lots of nooks and crannies with a few common sitting areas to relax in. It's just a minute off the expressway and easily accessible to the downtown area as well as the C&O Canal trail for a walk or run. Highly recommend.
