Excellent Getaway
We went for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. This was an incredible find. The winery is in the Odd Fellows Home administration building. It is the lone restored building on the campus of the abandoned Odd Fellows Home old folk's home, orphanage, and hospital. There was a school building for the orphans, as well.
If you like haunted and abandoned places, this is definitely your place. There are supposedly ghosts about, but we were left alone. The museum downstairs does have a skeleton, though.
The inn itself has plenty of space for meetings, banquets, or weddings. The bar offers tastings for a reasonable price. The rooms are very spacious and quiet, except for a vent in the bathroom that banged a little in the wind- dispapointingly, it wasn't a ghost.
There is a kitchenette on the guest floor and a seating area with board games. This would be a great place to host a family reunion.
There are no dining options on site, but the town of Liberty isn't t that far of a drive. We had breakfast downtown. Kansas City Plaza is about a half-hour drive, and we visited our favorite restaurant for dinner. Everything is close enough to be accessible, but you still get the feeling of being in the country.
Overall, excellent stay. Great staff, comfy, clean, quiet, conveniently located, and lots of fun. Take the time to walk the grounds. It is incredible.
