This is a beautiful, historic property. We booked a room that turned out to not feature air conditioning, which the hotel explains on its website but I didn’t notice a warning when booking though Expedia. Luckily the night was cool enough to get along nicely with opened windows.
The restaurant was disappointing. We wanted more of a snack after having a late lunch on the road and the only offering was an an expensive, multi-course menu whose description seemed overly contrived and ambitious given the restaurant’s modest online reviews. We were seated next to a wedding party and then ignored, which fueled our best decision to get back in the car to eat elsewhere in town. It seems odd that the hotel doesn’t have a separate bar according to the front desk, although a downstairs location looked like there was once one.
I would probably stay again for the view and the chance to explore the property further, making sure to figure out the air conditioning options and planning to dine offsite.
