Well, our stay didn’t start off on the right note which was cause for some disappointment off the bat, but we soon overcame that. Our issue was that the hotel does not keep staff in the reception unless you call them to tell them you’re coming. I don’t know about you but if I book a hotel and I don’t show up, I’ll get charged. That is my commitment to the hotel. I would hope that their commitment to me would be that they stay at the reception until their posted closing time on the day of my arrival.
We were left to feel that it wasn’t worth their time, in the “off season” to be at the reception when we arrive. To be fair, they did send us a message to have us call before we arrived. We didn’t have phone service so I replied to their message with clear timing on our arrival but clearly that didn’t work.
Otherwise, our experience at the hotel was fine. It’s a heritage building with lots of character and a very nice communal kitchen area. The bathroom was small and a little cramped but that might be expected in a building like this. The town was lovely, but not a bite to eat anywhere in the “off season” thankfully the hotel warned us about this so we were able to get a lovely dinner in a neighbouring town.
