The Marine Building is a fantastic choice if you love incredible architecture and design. This majestic skyscraper opened in 1930 and features a stunning Art Deco style both inside and outside. As you step into the lobby, your eyes are instantly drawn to the vaulted ceiling and its intricate frescos. But look down at the pristine, tiled floor and you’ll see an amazing mosaic of the zodiac signs.
Be sure to fetch your camera to capture the striking golden lifts and the mesmerising clock which has sea creatures for numerals. The décor has a maritime theme throughout, and you’ll catch it in even the smallest details, such as a small tile depicting The Golden Hind.

Chinatown Storytelling Centre is in the Bank of Montreal building in the heart of Chinatown. The museum showcases important events for the Chinese community in Canada dating from the 19th century to the present day. The short, guided tour is highly recommended as the emphasis is on listening to stories and questions and interaction are encouraged.
The special events are popular with both locals and tourists alike. They range from live music and book signings to Chinese Lunar New Year festivities and a celebration of Bruce Lee. The metered parking here can get busy, so it’s a good idea to use the large car park in Chinatown Plaza on Keefer Street. The walk from there takes less than 5 minutes.

Bloedel Conservatory is a beautiful, domed building in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Park. When it’s raining, this is a great escape to a tropical paradise of over 100 exotic birds and over 500 plants. Stroll through this temperature-controlled dome and be awestruck at the sights and sounds of the birds, especially the magnificent colours of the macaws, cockatoos and parrots.
Inside the Bloedel Conservatory, the walking trails take you through 3 distinct areas: tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest and desert. You can learn about fig trees, exotic ferns, coffee plants and lilies or you can just wander through the dome taking in the peaceful and lush surroundings.

The Holy Rosary Cathedral is an oasis of calm in the centre of one of Canada’s busiest cities.
