Brickell is the financial hub of Miami. Modern and towering high-rise buildings dominate its skyline by Biscayne Bay. It’s also a trendy neighbourhood, offering world-class hotels and some of the city’s best shopping and nightlife scenes.

Brickell got the nickname "Wall Street South" thanks to its central role in Miami’s banking culture since the 1970s. It’s now home to well over 50 banks and financial firms, most with headquarters inside the skyscrapers. Adjacent rooftop bars and fine restaurants cater to the business crowd, while art galleries and chic boutiques attract the jet-setters.

The neighbourhood lies just south of Downtown Miami, connected by the Brickell Avenue Bridge that crosses over the Miami River. The western end of William M Powell Bridge borders Brickell with the leafy and upscale neighbourhood of Coconut Grove to its south.

As Miami’s famed financial district, Brickell has a cityscape that doesn’t stray far from office buildings and skyscrapers. You’ll get the strongest sense of the financial district’s heartbeat as you stroll along its main streets, particularly Brickell Avenue.

South Miami Avenue is where you’ll find most of Brickell’s top shopping spots, bars and restaurants. Mary Brickell Village is an open-air shopping complex. Brickell City Centre is a big mall anchored by Cinemex, Italian Food Hall, and Saks Fifth Avenue. You’ll also find brands like Sephora, Hugo Boss, Tommy Bahama, Bruno Magli, and Carmen Steffens.

Brickell is noticeably multicultural, as its dining scene shows. On the Brickell and South Miami avenues, you can head to Baires Grill Brickell or Novecento for Argentinian cuisine, Cantina La Veinte at the Viceroy Miami for Mexican, and the quirkily named Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita for New American fare.

As the sun sets over Biscayne Bay, Brickell’s evening hot spots come to life. There are speakeasy vibes and art to enjoy at RedBar Brickell, or you could see and experience Better Days for cool, laidback cocktails and games inside a thrift shop. Part of Brickell’s local business crowd likes to unwind by heading to karaokes like Sweet Caroline for happy hours and comedy nights. Another option is to hit the dance floor at Blackbird Ordinary inside Brickell City Centre.

Brickell isn’t just about shopping and nightlife, either. You can find green oases and even an archaeological site within this neighbourhood. Right by Brickell Avenue Bridge is Brickell Point and the Miami Circle National Historic Landmark. This waterfront location hosts the unique ceremonial site of the Native American Tequesta tribe from 2,000 years ago. Stroll along the River Walk Trail for a pleasant view of Miami River and Downtown Miami.

Heading south along the River Walk Trail takes you to the leafy grounds of the waterfront Brickell Park. Across the waters along Brickell Key Drive takes you to the triangular-shaped key with the small Brickell Key Park at its southern point. This spot offers the best views of Brickell’s entire skyline.

Further south, near the yachts and condos of Brickell Place Marina, is the 7.8-acre Simpson Park. It’s a retreat great for families, with lush trails and a tropical hardwood hammock and native and threatened plants. The park is also wheelchair accessible.
